In this course, we discuss the right of parents to take time off from work after the birth of a child. Specifically, we review the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the sections that elaborate on: employers bound to the Act; which employees are eligible for FMLA benefits; the amount of time allotted to employees after the birth of a child; and other relevant terms.
We also incorporate analysis of various state acts and laws that supplement the FMLA to see which areas have more stringent requirements for employers and greater rights for employees. This course serves as a broad overview of employee rights after childbirth so employers can be aware of issues to address throughout the process.
