In this course we discuss everything that a line manager needs to know about the Human Resource (HR) function and its role within organizations.

The course begins with a broad overview of HR issues, the responsibilities of HR specialists and the role of the line manager in working with the HR function.  This leads to a conversation about how the function can assist business aims and goals, and the employee life-cycle.  Finally, we work through key line manager HR activities including recruitment and selection; performance management and appraisals and their role in developing employee engagement and commitment.

This course is suitable for anyone considering or moving into a role in HR, those with responsibility for providing advice on HR as part of their role or those who may be taking on more HR responsibilities.

I found the psychological contract to be very interesting as I have not heard of this before. The old and new ways mentioned in the contract are very important in the workforce today, and for me personally as well.

I found this course to be very boring. The instructor just read right out of a textbook. There were no real-world examples. Too much theory and buzzwords for me. Had a hard time staying engaged.

Very educational; material/slides followed along well with the presentation. Gained insights into line Manager responsibility as opposed to HRM handling all aspects of HR.
