In this course we tackle a topic that doesn’t factor into many senior financial leader’s agendas all that often or until something happens - fraud in the workplace. Occupational fraud is a giant global industry. Organizations are losing an estimated 5% of revenues to employee fraud each year according to the experts at the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ASFE). Does that statistic shock you? Are you in disbelief that the number could be so high?

In this course, we discuss how employees are doing it, how we can detect it, and most importantly, what can be done to prevent it in the first place. We use the research of the ASFE to look at the fraud cases under investigation to reach a deeper understanding of this issue. You will be astounded, you may be surprised, but the goal of this course is to make you enlightened.

Learning Objectives
  • Recognize and describe various fraud schemes and their prevalence in organizations today.
  • Discover and discuss the phycology of fraud including who commits fraud and why.
  • Explore and describe the effectiveness of different anti-fraud controls.
  • Discover and discuss best practices for fraud detection, investigation, and prevention.

The presentation was very upbeat - the background song accentuated the seriousness of fraudulent activities. It was surprising to hear how costly internal fraud schemes can be to organizations. I enjoyed the course and welcome the opportunity to explore the topic in more details. It was shocking to learn that petty theft could be classified as fraud as well.

I like the fact that this course went thru the steps of defining the different fraud schemes used by various levels of employees. What surprised me is that most of the companies did not report them in order to keep their reputation. This course would help procedure analyst to see how fraud is committed and the different ways to detect the red flags

This course served as an excellent overview of fraud in the workplace, including many eye-opening statistics that were quite alarming. While the instructor did an amazing job of delivering content, the statistics were the key take-away for me. I would highly recommend this course for anyone in today's business world!

Enjoyable upbeat lesson on current topics in fraud awareness and prevention. I appreciate the clear and coherent slides and that the instructor edits their presentation to make it clear and to the point. It is nice that a version of the slides including the lesson script is included in the supporting materials.

Instructor is knowledgeable although it's sometimes challenging to listen to as their tone is stressful and some of their grammatical errors can make it more challenging to glean the overall information. If you can get past that, and the minimal detail on slides /handouts, it's a decent presentation.

The course is based on ACFE research, which was familiar to me, but still there were surprising facts and explanations. Brilliant analysis! What I didn't like, the "continuous play" where I had to sit through the whole course once more in a 48-minutes-session. OK, OK, practice makes perfect.

This course is filled with valuable statistics. The instructor is enthusiastic and a wonderful presenter. As a CPA and a CFE, I was impressed by the overall organization of this course and the thought-provoking approach to teaching. The interviews of Karen were terrific.

Very informative course. I was suprised to find out who the most likely were to commit fraud. I think everyone would gain from taking this course. Be careful with the exam to read the question more than once before answering.

Very fast course to review the basics of fraud. Great charts and information. Only thing I would change would be the color scheme of the charts as it was sometimes hard to differentiate blue from dark blue from darker blue.

4

The Course was effectively designed to highlight core areas along with corroborating statistics. However practical case studies, either one or two, if discussed in detail then give the practical insights for further action.
