This is a complete course of study providing education and training which allows the student to learn how ethics and ethical behavior are necessary to insurance coverage and insurance claims.  The course covers everything an employee, officer, or director who deals with insurance matters for a corporation (or an officer or agent of an insurer) needs to know to implement important ethical standards to the business of liability insurance.  It is the purpose of liability insurance to protect those people and entities insured against claims they were damaged by the insured’s tortious conduct and they must be resolved fairly and in good faith.  

This course covers the following:

  1. A description of ethics and ethical behavior.
  2. Applying ethical behavior to the work of the insurance professional whether working for an insurer or an insured.
  3. The requirement that an insurance professional has an ethical compass and follows it religiously.
  4. A description of the various ethical concepts created by philosophers over the centuries from Aristotle to Ayn Rand.
  5. An explanation why ethical behavior is mandatory for the insurance professional.
  6. How to be an ethical insurance professional.
  7. How to avoid inducements and other attempts to cause the insurance professional to act unethically.
  8. How to apply ethics to the work of the insurance professional.
  9. How Sarbanes-Oxley applies to the ethical insurance professional.
