In this course, we discuss the importance of professional ethical practice for those engaging in expert and specialist roles within an organizational framework.

We start with a brief overview of difficult and non-standard situations to demonstrate appropriate decision-making skills.  This leads to a conversation about the legal, ethical and professional issues relating to working within an expert/specialist practice setting.  Then, we explore how organization development (OD) expert/specialist practice being undertaken has an impact on current and future implications for the profession.

This course examines how to gain competence by focusing on the enhancement of OD skills and underpinning knowledge in an evolving expert/specialist role.

Just wonder if cultures or industries would play a part in shaping the ethical considerations of an OD practitioner. For example, in some developing countries where legal frameworks tend to be looser and less defined, what are the things that an OD practitioner should take note? Besides, the rise of virtual communications and conferencing due to COVID - what are the ethical considerations for OD practitioner from a virtual delivery and facilitation standpoint?

Member's Profile
This course is a good overview to ethics in relation to the OD profession. Ethics is such a weighty topic, I agree that continuing education related to this topic specifically should be a goal of all OD practitioners - especially in these morally ambiguous times. I look forward to seeing how OD evolves in this realm in the next 5 - 10 years.

Emphasizing ethics is needed in a field where there is no black and white guideline to solving problems.
