Jon is an Instructor, Harvard Extension School, where he teaches graduate-level courses in business strategy and behavioral economics. He is also an Instructor for Harvard’s intensive Professional Development certificate programs, where he designed and co-leads the Advanced Strategy Program.
Previously, Jon was Vice President of executive development at EMC Corporation, a $25 billion technology company, where he was also global head of EMC University, the corporate university for EMC's 80,000 plus employees. Prior to joining EMC, Jon was the co-founder of Wilson|Alan, a consulting firm specializing in executive development and strategic alignment. As Managing Director of that firm, Jon designed and led strategic development initiatives for senior executives at major technology, media, financial services, retail, health, manufacturing, and transportation companies.
Before focusing on business leadership development, Jon was a strategy consultant for fifteen years with Temple, Barker & Sloane (now Oliver Wyman). As a Vice President at that firm, Jon worked with both leading corporations and startup ventures to formulate and execute successful business strategies. He created the firm’s Patterns of Competition and Interactive Strategy Models® practices.
Jon is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard University. As a graduate student he was awarded both a National Science Foundation fellowship and the Harvard Business Economics fellowship.
