Served 10 years as CEO of the California Self-Insurers Security Fund, with 550 self-insured corporate members, managing $550 million in assets and $200 million in workers’ compensation claims. Vice-President of Risk Management (12 years) for an international staffing company, designed and managed its self-insured workers comp, liability, property and employee benefits program for 80,000 employees in 42 states. Pioneering CEO/Risk Manager of a joint powers authority (risk pool) of 18 California municipalities where he implemented and provided fully self-administered and self-insured for workers comp, liability, property and health benefits for its cities. First Risk Manager for the cities of Sunnyvale and Walnut Creek, CA. Past President of: the Risk & Insurance Management Society (Golden Gate Chapter); Public Agency Risk Managers Association: as well as the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority.
Designated “Risk Manager of the Year” by Business Insurance (1989) and Chaired the Business Insurance Workers Compensation and Disability Management Conference for 9 years.
A frequent lecturer at national risk management conferences, he has been an expert witness in state and federal insurance litigation and a spokesperson on “60 Minutes” and “CNN.” Served as a Captain (Protocol Officer) in the USAF during the Vietnam era, serving VIP’s including the White House and the Pentagon.
