Today’s workforce and workplace has dramatically evolved in the last 20 years if not just the last 5 years. That evolution includes the ways we communicate all the way to how our corporate culture presents. It impacts how and when employees perform their jobs and certainly how effective they are at executing their jobs. The pace of change in today’s workforce is massive and will only continue to change and evolve.

When you think of these aspects, add it the changing nature of the generational workforce and the evolution of technology as well as events like the global pandemic, it is of little wonder why organizations are looking for ways to keep their employees engaged. Herein is where the concept of diversity, equity and inclusion enter.

The new acronym in business is DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion),. But as opposed to some staggering project initiative like Y2K, Sarbanes-Oxley or even ERM; DEI goes to the heart of what employees are looking for. A recent article by the International Labor Organization was cited as saying:

“Companies with more inclusive business cultures and policies see a 59% increase in innovation and 37% better assessment of consumer interest and demand.”
