3 CPE Please note that this is a "text-based", not a "video-based" course. The materials are downloaded by the user, read and absorbed, and then the user takes the review and final assessment online at Illumeo as usual, where, once passed, all CPE is tracked and kept for long-term reference.
This 3-hour course is designed to meet the 3-hour Ethics CPE requirement for Ohio CPAs. It provides an overview of ethical thought along with the core values of the CPA profession. The applicable laws and rules promulgated under Chapter 4701 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 4701 of the Ohio Administrative Code are covered in detail. The AICPA Code of Professional Conduct is also covered in detail. Case studies are utilized throughout the course to emphasize material.

Straightforward, no-frills course. The PDF is well written and provides specific examples to demonstrate concepts. Best for those who prefer reading straight text without the bells and whistles in a traditional e-learning course. I liked being able to review at my own pace without the distraction of a narrator or unnecessary graphics/entertainment elements. Five stars.

Overall, the course met expectations. It seems geared towards CPAs in public practice. There were examples/case studies that were helpful in explaining concepts. Incorporating additional examples from non-public practice settings would make the course more relevant to CPAs not in public practice.

The review questions were not structured well. The premise in the question (ie. is this permitted) did not match well with the phrasing of the responses. However, the final exam questions were properly structured, reducing possible confusion.

Mostly a re-print of rules/regulations published by authoritative agencies. Most enjoyable part of the course were cases where real world examples were presented and discussed; which had the potential to be real food for thought.
